State Power Caucus, Executive Director

This job is no longer available

Remote
Full-time

*Please note that this position is not a New Virginia Majority Staff Position.*

The State Power Caucus (SPC) is a peer-to-peer collaboration of state-based, power-building organizations and allies.  Established in this uncommonly volatile moment of both political crisis and opportunity, we seek to build multi-racial independent political alignment and secure governing power that will advance racial, gender, immigrant, economic and ecological justice and achieve a truly democratic and equitable society.  To realize that ambition, participating organizations are designing and deploying strategies to build the scope and scale of progressive, grassroots, political power necessary to defeat the looming  threats our country faces today.

We are a formation of twenty-one organizations, primarily people of color led, from seventeen states.  Our geographic reach extends across the United States.  Our affiliated State Power Organizations (SPO) are aligned with a common purpose of advancing economic, racial, environmental, and social justice.  In particular we support the building of governing power within the states where we have active members.  We do this through political education, mutual learning and support for people of color Executive Directors, supporting a learning community to build the scale of our organizing and (potentially) national interventions to magnify our collective impact. We are under no illusion that by ourselves we are the antidote to resurgent white nationalism, yet we do believe that we have a strategic and substantive contribution to the movement for transformative change.
