The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law is a nonpartisan law and policy institute that seeks to protect and improve our systems of democracy and justice. We regularly publish reports, books, and papers, and host dozens of public events in New York and Washington, D.C. The Center is led by Michael Waldman, a prominent public intellectual and author, communications strategist, democracy expert and former chief speechwriter to President Bill Clinton.
The Brennan Center is seeking a junior graphic designer to work on a variety of products, including reports and publications, website graphics, social media, videos, and some branding work. The successful candidate will work with a wide range of media and use their design skills to bring high visual impact to the work of the Brennan Center. This full time role will report directly to the Digital Manager, and will work closely with various members of the communications team.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Design all Brennan Center reports for print and digital distribution.
- Provide design support for our digital communications channels, including website, email newsletters and social media.
- Provide design support for the creation of infographics, webpages, videos, presentations and other projects.
- Work with stakeholders to develop design briefs to record requirements and project needs
- Assist with the creation of in-house videos.
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications. The ideal candidate should have:
- Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
- A high level of skill with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Professionalism regarding deadlines and project management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong decision making ability
- Resourceful and efficient
- Sense of humor
