POSITION SUMMARY
The Simons Searchlight Research Coordinator's primary role will be to engage and support a research community of individuals with genetic variants associated with autism spectrum disorder and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Research Coordinator will work closely with the outreach manager in day-to-day management and oversight of communications with all genetic groups in support of initial recruitment, long-term retention and engagement in research. The Research Coordinator will act as the primary point of contact for patient advocacy groups planning virtual or in-person conferences and for coordinating supporting internal team activities. The Research Coordinator will also support the measures and data quality team in communicating requirements to system developers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish good working relationships with patient advocacy group leaders and act as the primary point of contact for conference organization, advising them on best practice and offering planning/logistical support as needed.
- Manage all details in the team planning process for in-person and virtual participant events, including timeline development.
- Travel to in-person conferences and help with on-site research projects and biospecimen collection
- Provide estimates for and track the yearly budget for in-person family meeting activities, including travel, venue and researcher needs.
- Assist research scientist and product development team in documenting requirements for new measures and system features
- Assist in developing and executing a detailed and substantive recruitment and engagement plan across website, social media and print channels.
- Document and track outreach content calendars for all of Simons Searchlight's digital and print assets, webinars and quarterly newsletters for families, participants and research communities.
- Aid in development and implementation of outreach campaigns and collateral
- Assist with externally facing digital engagement activities (webinars, Twitter chats, Facebook live, etc.).
- Work with DEI coordinator and outreach manager on efforts to increase diverse representation within the research cohort
- Develop, deploy and summarize surveys and interviews to obtain participant feedback, working with the outreach manager and external marketing and user-experience firms.
- Assist with facilitation for the content preparation and follow-up Simons Searchlight community advisory council meetings, helping plan agendas, prepare content, present to attendees and generate follow-up responses.
- Produce metrics reports to evaluate the success of Simons Searchlight outreach efforts
- Perform any other duties as assigned or required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor's degree required
- Science background preferred
Experience
- At least three years of experience in an administrative or project management position
- Prior experience with event management preferred
- Experience managing an outreach/social media campaign and in health outreach campaigns preferred
- Experience with human subjects research and data processing preferred
- Experience engaging people in person and online
- Public speaking experience

- Experience and facility with various tools of digital technology and communication, including content management systems and marketing and outreach tools, such as Google Analytics, Twitter and Facebook, as well as understanding of user experiences.

- Sound judgment and exceptional ethical standards
- Ability to inspire and forge strong collaborative partnerships
- Comfortable working independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability and willingness to travel
