Vermont College of Fine Arts welcomes applications for the Director of the Center for Arts + Social Justice. The Director of the Center for Arts + Social Justice is a leadership and management position reporting to the VP for Institutional Advancement.

The Director will guide VCFA’s newly launched Center for Arts + Social Justice into its next phase of growth, fulfilling and expanding its vision for building an ecosystem of artists and storytellers working to change the dominant narrative and inspire new realities.

Areas of Responsibility: 

In this leadership role, the Director will work collaboratively with all departments of the college and program constituencies and manage all functions of the Center for Arts + Social Justice, including creating programming, directing communications, and leading outreach and engagement efforts. Additionally, the Director will work with the Office of Institutional Advancement to identify and pursue funding opportunities. This position requires a high level of creativity and vision, administrative and interpersonal skills, as well as a deep belief in and understanding of the range of ways the arts have influenced and can influence forward movement in the quest for a more just and equitable world.

Educational Background: 
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in the arts, higher-ed, or non-profit sector
Skills/Experience: 

Minimum 5 years of experience in program development and implementation; demonstrated aptitude for working on multiple projects; exemplary interpersonal and communication skills; high-level organizational skills and capacity for attention to detail; ability to think creatively, entrepreneurially, and strategically as part of a collaborative team setting; and knowledge of equity and inclusivity practices.Candidates are encouraged to consult VCFA’s website to acquaint themselves with our distinctive institution, learning processes, educational philosophy, and Statement on Community Values.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Full-time VCFA employees are eligible for a generous benefits package, which offers support to you and your family. In addition to the standard benefits, VCFA promotes a culture of creativity and fun.

The College offers different health plan options and covers a generous portion of the premium, which varies based on salary.

VCFA offers 85% premium assistance.

Welfare Benefits 

VCFA pays 100% of your Short and Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance. Additional coverages (Life, Accident, and Critical Illness) are available for employees to purchase.

 

Retirement Plan 

VCFA encourages you to save for your retirement. Benefits-eligible employees can set aside a percentage of their salary as a Roth, or on a pretax basis. After 6 months, VCFA will match up to 3%. If your money is invested before taxes, it lowers your taxable income. 

 

Retirement Planning 

Eligible employees may participate in free retirement planning services through Fleischer Jacobs Group. 

 

Time Off 

Paid Time Off (PTO): All full time employees have access to 20 vacation days and 10 sick days per year. Holidays: VCFA offers eligible employees 15 holidays each year! Day of Service: An additional paid day off provided for participation in a day of volunteer work.
