The Campaigns & Membership Department of Amnesty International USA seeks an experienced Field Organizer in the State of Kentucky. The Field Organizer is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that will lead to supporter growth and increase participation in activism around AIUSA’s priority campaigns and core programmatic work. This position will be based in Kentucky, with the goal of growing AIUSA’s grassroots activist base. The Kentucky Field Organizer will be exploring various innovative organizing initiatives to raise awareness on Amnesty International’s mission, engage activists, and build a local grassroots network of human rights defenders. The Field Organizer will work collaboratively with AIUSA’s Campaign & Membership Department to identify and recruit new supporters, identify potential leaders, and advance AIUSA’s human rights priority campaigns and programmatic work.
- Identify areas for supporter growth in order to cultivate and foster these communities
- Develop a 1-year organizing strategy for Kentucky that is reflective of growth and advocacy goals
- Provide training opportunities that will support local activists increase the impact of their actions
- Promote AIUSA’s campaigns and programmatic work by raising awareness and leading actions/events in communities throughout Kentucky
- Monitor and report back to the organization local developments such as municipal and state issues that have human rights impact
- Support legislative advocacy initiatives by organizing local in-district mobilizations
- Build awareness on human rights issues through human rights education
- Educate internal and external audiences on AI’s policies
- Ensure relevant materials are provided to supporters in Kentucky
- Track and report on AI activities throughout the state
- Assist in the development and execution of small and large-scale events throughout the year to increase AIUSA’s supporter base and visibility
- Mentor activists to build local leadership
- Maintain and update relevant activist and leader records in our databases
- Help advance AIUSA’s strategic plan
- Help advance goals outlined by AIUSA’s Organizing Unit
- Other duties as assigned
- 5 years of organizing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Nonprofit experience preferred

S/He must be able to travel up to 25% of the time and work on weekends and evenings as needed.
