Position Summary

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be responsible for leading the APGA Tour and APGA Foundation next phase of growth and impact. The CEO will be responsible for advancing the organization’s mission, expanding its national influence, strengthening strategic partnerships, driving fundraising efforts, and building a sustainable organization that creates opportunities through golf. The CEO must be equally comfortable presenting in the boardroom, engaging with Fortune 500 executives and major donors, and rolling up their sleeves to support a lean, entrepreneurial organization. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who combines executive presence with humility, operational excellence, and an unwavering commitment to the APGA’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Working closely with the Board, develop and execute a long-term strategic vision that advances the APGA mission and organizational growth.
  • Establish clear priorities and measurable objectives for the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, expansion, and increased impact.
  • Remove organizational obstacles that limit execution and growth.
  • Inspire confidence among the Board, staff, players, sponsors, donors, and partners.

Organizational Leadership

  • Build, develop, and retain highly motivated and top-performing team members.
  • Successfully identify and prioritize opportunities and challenges, keeping the staff and board focused on the highest ROI priorities.
  • Lead a high-performing, mission-focused team within a lean organizational structure.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to perform hands-on operational work when needed.
  • Build systems and processes that support sustainable organizational growth.

Fundraising & Corporate Partnerships

  • Incorporate innovation and fundraising best practices to support APGA’s growth ambition.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors and philanthropic partners.
  • Serve as the organization's primary ambassador with current and prospective supporters.
  • Identify new revenue opportunities that align with the APGA Tour's mission.

External Relations

  • Represent the APGA with credibility and professionalism among corporate leaders, community organizations, governing bodies, media, and other stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with senior executives across multiple industries.
  • Expand partnerships with youth organizations, community organizations, and educational institutions.
  • Promote the APGA’s nmission and impact nationally.

Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the organization's financial health, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Work closely with finance staff and the Board to ensure sound financial stewardship.
  • Understand financial statements, budgeting, and nonprofit financial management.
  • Ensure organizational sustainability through disciplined planning and execution.
Skills/Experience: 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  1. Knowledge of golf, the golf industry, or a genuine passion for the game and its ability to create opportunity.

  4. Comfortable making difficult decisions while building organizational consensus.

  6. Demonstrated fundraising success, including major gifts and corporate sponsorship development.
  7. Leading a grassroots organization with limited resources.

  9. Relationship building; connects naturally with corporate executives, donors, community leaders, and players.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess many of the following qualities:

Experience

  • Senior leadership experience within a nonprofit organization, mission-driven enterprise, or college athletics.
  • P&L responsibility for $3+ million annual budgets.
  • Experience leading a team of 5 direct reports.
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors and executive leadership teams.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and organizational budgeting.
  • Experience building strategic partnerships across the corporate, nonprofit, and community sectors.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary Range

  • $180,000 - $200,00 per year + Bonus + Optional healthcare
Additional Information: 

Travel

  • 25-30% of the time, Various locations, mostly US.
