350.org is looking for someone to support local organising on divestment and key anti-coal mobilisations in North-Rhine Westphalia from late May to September.
The role will help to support local organising on coal in the region, including RWE divestment, frontline struggles against coal mine expansions and around key mobilisations planned in June-August 2019 (Ende Gelände, Fridays for Future, Alle Dörfer Bleiben).
Areas of Responsibility:
Local organizing and mobilisation support:
- Engage with the existing Divest RWE and Fossil Free network in the region to explore options for escalating and building on this campaign
- Build relationships with other key actors such as Alle Dörfer Bleiben, Fridays for Future and church allies in the region, to help support, connect and amplify their activities to wider (international audience)
- Assist with the organisation of an international climate march and related activities in Aachen and surrounding areas on June 21-22
Communications:
- Produce digital and other content to help amplify local storytelling and campaigns for 350’s channels in Germany and internationally
- Support media outreach and digi-comms work during key moments (Ende Gelände, Rheinland climate camp)
Skills/Experience:
- Experience in local organizing and familiarity with activist networks, and ideally the Divest RWE/Fossil Free network
- Experience in online and offline outreach and mobilising for events
- Fluency in German and proficiency in English (B2 - C2)
- Interest in and basic knowledge of climate policy and science
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in organising demonstrations, meetings, etc.
- Familiarity with wordpress-based websites
- Experience in working remotely and via digital tools
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
