This position will be responsible for the direction and leadership for the YMCA finance and business operations. Oversees the YMCAs accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of its financial reports. Ensures a system of strong internal controls and maintains fiscal soundness. Manages the annual external audit, the 990 tax return and the preparation of information of outside funders. Provides leadership for other functions including all human resources.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages all functions of accounting and business operations, ensuring that legal and audit requirements are met and that best practices and maximum efficiency are obtained.
- Hires, trains, and oversees assigned staff, providing direct supervision.
- Manages the annual independent audit, the preparation of financial statements and all payroll tax forms.
- Oversees and provides leadership to the annual budget process.
- Implements appropriate systems and internal controls to adequately safeguard the YMCAs financial resources and to provide a solid basis for accurately reporting financial data.
- Prepares the preparation of outside reports and filings.
- Oversees the month-end and year-end closings and the preparation of reports.
- Collects and maintains data on government contracts and grants.
- Represents the YMCA with key community organizations and events as required.
- Responsible for payroll and all taxes associated with payroll.
- Prepares all end of year W2s and 1099s and filing with appropriate agencies.
- Maintains all employee files.
- Prepares YUSA annual reports.
- Maintains YMCAs investment accounts.
- Record and prepare all finance and board minutes and distribute to BOD.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience:
- Recommend and develop new program ideas to better serve YMCA members and community needs/interests.
- Recruit, hire, train and schedule all related program staff including volunteers.
- Review and evaluates staff performance and develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Attend board meetings and honor requests to speak at various community, civic club and school special events.
- Current CPR, AED and first aid certification.
- Strong organizational, communication, budget management and supervisory skills.
- Strong financial development skills.
- Ability to work under occasional stressful conditions and ability to work independently.
- Work towards Team-Leader certification in first three years of employment
- Past experience in audit, year-end reporting, payroll and human resources, cash flow management
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $36,000.00 - $43,000.00
