Running our YMCA Camp Letts Residential Camp Facility is like no other job…Anywhere!YMCA Camp Letts is one of the premiere residential camps and conference centers on the East coast. YMCA Camp Letts is located on a 219 acre peninsula on an inlet off the Chesapeake Bay.

We are searching for an individual with expansive experience operating all facets of a traditional year round resident camp, which includes youth programming, overnight and summer camps, sailing, waterskiing, equestrian center and educational retreat and conference center. The ideal candidate is forward thinking leader who will assist in the management of all aspects of the business and program operations of the branch, to include: fiscal management, annual support campaign, staff supervision, volunteer development, member services and program quality.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Executive Director shall:

  • Provides leadership to recruit, retain, develop and motivate a diverse, competent and committed staff to meet the needs of the members and achieve branch and Association objectives
  • Manages branch in a manner that achieves organizational objectives in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Maintains good relations with legislative and regulatory decision makers
  • Represents the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies organizations and general public
  • Understands the unique marketing needs of the branch
  • Publicizes the activities and progress of the branch working closely with Association Director of Marketing and with Association Director of Communication
  • Manages the delivery of quality programs to branch members that will meet the needs of the community and the mission, purpose, and goals of the branch and Association
  • Works with philanthropy to develop grants to build resource capacity
  • Develops and maintains branch facilities that meet the needs of current and potential members and the association’s safety, service, and security objectives.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in business administration/human services or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum five (5) years progressively responsible executive operations management experience.  YMCA or non-profit experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding and support of the YMCA’s mission
  • Extensive professional experience in a broad range of operational positions
  • Proven management abilities in community and government relations; budget development and financial control; staff management and development; strategic planning and policy making; and volunteer development
  • Experience in establishing and using a strong peer network and encouraging staff to network
  • Is able to work well with a variety of people
  • Experience in working with effective volunteer committees
  • Is flexible and is able to adapt to changes in the organizational environment
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated maturity, good judgment, and excellent human relations skills
  • Ability to think conceptually, portrays good analytical skills, and demonstrates assertiveness to manage the scope and diversity of the responsibilities
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and priorities and achieve organizational objectives
  • Experience working effectively within a matrix, mission oriented, and diverse environment
  • Effective public speaking skills
  • Ability to drive from branch to branch and to Association Services Office
  • Ability to work at any location to complete tasks and assignments.
  • Early morning and evening meetings are required
  • Some weekend work is required for special YMCA events, and working at home some evenings is necessary to complete assignments
  • Must be able to handle heavy workload and multiple job related pressures
