The Valley of the Sun YMCA is looking for an experienced executive to drive the strategy, operations, program growth, fundraising, volunteer and community development efforts in the East Valley - specifically in the Mesa and Gilbert communities. This position will supervise the Ross Farnsworth East Valley Family YMCA and their off-site location- the Mesa Family YMCA.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
- Develops, directs, and monitors high quality programs which support branch and association mission, goals, and strategies.
- Develops, directs, and monitors high quality services for YMCA members.
- Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch, volunteer development and recognition.
- Directs the financial development activities of the branch, including 100% of board members working as campaign volunteers, maintaining a campaign goal minimum that is 5% of the branch-operating budget, and collecting 90% of all pledges by each year-end.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, schools (including AT Still University, Benedictine University, and Mesa Public Schools), and governmental entities (including Arizona Department of Health Services and Arizona Department of Economic Security).
- Leads and grows local volunteer advisory board & committees
- Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of staff.
- Develops, implements, and manages the financial plan of the branch.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, education, recreation or equivalent preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Five or more years of related experience in supervision, membership marketing, financial management, fundraising and community program development.
- Experience with computers including word processing and database software.
- Ability to direct the total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Ability to work effectively with people.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays to support the operations, trainings & community events.
- YMCA Senior Director experience and branch leader certification preferred.
