Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA program(s) in the area of Health and Wellness.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Hires, trains and supervises assigned staff which may include coordinators, instructors and trainers.
  • Manages communications for group fitness instructors, health and wellness coaches, and personal trainers. Maintains communication system for continuous program support and efficiency.
  • Manage and monitor direct report payroll.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. May include developing, maintaining and updating program packets for personal training, Y-Fit, and specialty programs.
  • Maintains equipment and facilities.
  • Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required.
  • Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
  • Designs and implements new health and wellness programs.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • Minimum age requirements may apply; for example, minimum age of 21.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
