This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA program(s).
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- May assist with Program Committee meetings.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
- in programs.
- Begin, maintain, and grow a personal training program.
- Increase swim lesson and youth sports participation through quality program delivery
- Assure program and department areas are kept clean and functional. Daily walk throughs.
- Work to establish a medical/community collaborative partnership to begin programs like Pedaling for Parkinson's, Diabetes Prevention program, Enhance Fitness, Blood Pressure Self Monitoring Program.
- Develop goal driven initiatives for members- Weightlifting goals, cardio goals, frequent check in goals, travel the trail, etc.
- Work to develop programming for adult and teens; Example: Volleyball, Walley Ball, Pickle Ball, basketball, racquetball, etc.
- Work to provide community information seminars (nutrition, joint health, smoking cessation, etc)
- Develop a preventative maintenance cleaning schedule for all fitness/aquatics equipment
- Become engaged in 1-2 community groups (civic clubs, Chamber, Chamber of Young Professionals, etc)
- Be available for weekly staff meetings
- Host 1-2 staff meetings per department, monthly
- Respect and fall in line with all personnel policy guidelines
- Understand the YMCA customer service manual. Understand that YMCA survives to serve the community. Exemplify YMCA principles at all times and treat others the way you would like to be treated!
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Two to four years related experience preferred.
- Minimum age requirements may apply; minimum age of 21.
- Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens, West Bend Online Training
- Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications. Obtain YMCA Team leader Certification in first 3 years of employment
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
- the community.
- Obtain NCCA Accredited personal training certification in first year of employment
- Become YMCA swim instructor certified in first year of employment
- Become a certified lifeguard instructor in first year of employment
- Become a Certified Pool Operator in first year of employment
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $34,000.00 - $38,000.00
