Primarily responsible for operational analysis, problem solving and business improvement activities within the Business Optimization function, specifically:
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assists Business Optimization leadership in maintaining and refining the department strategy for solving organizational business problems. This includes detailing short- and long-term goals, deliverables, and performance metrics.
- Uses experience and expert judgment to engage with senior executives and vice presidents to discuss and define their enterprise-wide initiatives and associated business challenges.
- Works as an internal consultant to identify, analyze, and diagnose root causes of organizational problems, identify solution options and associated requirements, and recommend courses of action. This includes partnering with stakeholders to understand all aspects of a situation and the pros and cons of alternative approaches.
- Responsible for managing Enterprise-wide operational improvement projects; this includes developing the scope of work, leveraging business improvement tools and techniques as needed, managing risks, and guiding communications and change management activities.
- Able to manage clients’ expectations and perceptions, demonstrates quick thinking and ability to make course corrections with minimal guidance, removes obstacles for team members, and motivates and supports them.
- Serves as a consultant and advisor to the business on ways to improve operational effectiveness and ability to execute successfully, including the provision of capability-building activities.
- Prepares and presents relevant reports and documents regarding projects’ operational status, achievement, and performance.
- Help manage the project pipeline and assist in measuring their impact to the organization.
- Serves as a team member on other relevant projects within the Business Optimization Department.
- Stays abreast of new methods and tools to aide in the work of the department.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree, MBA or advanced degree preferred, 6+ years of relevant experience in operational improvement / effectiveness efforts.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with a major consulting firm preferred.
- Experience working in a client-focused consulting role responsible for analyzing complex enterprise problems from multiple angles and delivering executable recommendations.
- Extensive business process management experience including a successful track record of delivering large scale (enterprise-wide) business process improvement projects, with related communication and change management activities.
- Experience in understanding the obstacles that prevent an organization from striving to continuously improve while enhancing the abilities that will allow them to achieve measurable and sustainable results.
- Strong analytical, communication and strategic thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead cross-functional, matrix project teams toward common goals and strategic objectives while fostering strong relationships with all stakeholders.
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in business improvement activities including analysis, design, and performance management.
- Strong understanding of problem analysis and solution design.
- Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation and interpersonal communications skills with ability to successfully present ideas to senior management
- Results oriented, high performer able to work in an environment of change and uncertainty with sound judgment under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and take a team-oriented approach; willing to proactively assist departmental colleagues. Willing to do whatever tasks are required.
- PMP, Lean Six-Sigma Green or Black Belt, or other professional certification preferred.
