  • Plan, administer, develop and evaluate all aspects of youth and adult sports programs. 
  • The Sports Director is an essential leadership position at our YMCA. 
  • This position requires dedication to creating experiences that are seamless, well organized and filled with meaningful programs and the personal touch. It takes going the extra mile to ensure that the big and little details are well cared for and delivered with zest and precision.
  • The Sports Director will primarily work nights and weeknds because programs are held when members and participants are available. Often times more than 40 hours will be required each week to be successful in this position.
  • You must be a people person, friendly, flexible, well organized and able to think on your feet. 
  • This position begs for someone willing to roll up their sleeves and do what is necessary to succeed.
Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Direct and supervise sports programs to meet YMCA objectives.
  • Work nights and weekends as programs dictate.
  • Supervise all sports programs.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop schedule, and lead staff and volunteers in programs.
  • Establish new programs as community needs dictate.
  • Marketing and advertising program information out to community.
  • Communication with participants, volunteers, staff and community.
  • Coordinate use of facility for community events.
  • Help develop program budget - fiscal stewardship.
  • Program committee member.
  • Capacity and community building throughout the YMCA.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • One - two years related experience preferred.
  • Strong problem solving skills: interacting with parents, coaches, players, volunteers and staff.
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills required: must be able to plan, delegate, start projects and push them through successfully to the end. Computer skills required: Excel, Word, navigating the internet, etc.
  • Must understand the basic concepts of a voluntary, non-profit organization, specifically the structure of a YMCA as it relates to it's community and the people it serves. Must be committed to the YMCA Mission.
  • Working knowledge of all sports: volleyball, basketball, flag football and pickleball are our primary sports currently. Must be able to officiate, direct, teach and lead these sports as well as others.
Compensation/Benefits: 

 

Salary: $32,000.00 - $38,000.00
