Aquatic Director - Multi-Branch

The multi-branch Aquatics Director is an exempt full-time position that provides leadership, direct supervision and oversees all aspects of the Manatee YMCA pools and aquatics programming. This includes the year around pools at the West Side Bradenton Branch, East Side Lakewood Ranch Branch and the seasonal pool for the Parrish Branch. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Coordinate responsibilities between self and lead staff for coverage and management of all branch aquatic environments.
  • Organize and set-up of all aquatics program registrations through CCC software.
  • Oversee the execution of the Instructional Swim Lesson Programs.
  • Monitoring of daily pool operations, cleaning and maintenance.
  • In-Service trainings and regular drills with Lifeguards.
  • Ensure the safety of all members, program participants and staff during operational hours.
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Director for effective marketing strategies of the aquatic department at all branch locations.
  • Promote and grow a volunteer base.
  • Leverage Community relationships and develop collaborations to further the mission of the Y within our community.
  • Know and follow State and Federal laws with reguards to recruiting, hiring, training and management of aquatic staff.
  • Provide quality staff on-boarding and training.
  • Timely posting of pool schedules and staff schedules.
  • Process department payroll accurately and timely with branch lead staff.
  • Know and adhere to Y department, branch and HR/Payroll policies and procedures.
  • Ensure staff are current in their certifications required for their job.
  • Assist Branch Executive with annual department budget for all branch locations and provide leadership during the annual fund raising campaign.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years management experience. 
  • Current Lifeguard certification; CPR/AED-Pro, First Aid and Oxygen administration.with YMCA crossover within six (6) months.
  • Current YMCA Lifeguard Instructor certification or obtain with six (6) months of hire. 
  • Current YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification or obtain within 6 months of hire. 
  • Serve as the ASHI Training Center Director. Ensure branch trainers comply with the terms and conditions set forth by ASHI. 
  • Must be comfortable in public speaking. 
  • Possess excellent human relation skills to a diverse group of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Demonstrates good moral character and is willing to adhere to and promote the YMCA Mission and Focus Areas. 
  • Able to remain calm and positive in stressful situations. 
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task while effectively leading staff and facilities in multiple locations. 
  • Good computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass background and drug screening.
