Provides administrative legal support for Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE) attorneys.  Performs investigative work and conducts limited research.  Assists with client interviews and reaches out to local government agencies on behalf of LCE clients.  Responsible for database case management documentation tasks. Provides administrative support as required.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Under the guidance of five legal aid attorney(s) performing such tasks as working with clients to resolve legal problems; drafting client letters and other documents; limited legal research; assisting with client interviews; placing calls to local government agencies and medical providers on behalf of LCE clients.
  • Performs investigative work, such as searching records and documents, and/or contacting potential clients and witnesses to gather information.
  • Provides legal support, such as managing and maintaining databases to track document production, deposition testimony, and court deadlines.
  • Responsible for case management database documentation tasks such as: case reporting, case notes, case closures, grant reporting, and timekeeping.
  • Responsible for general administrative functions for three LCE legal programs.

Educational Background: 
Completion of an Associate’s Degree, paralegal training, or certificate;
Skills/Experience: 
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.  Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Windows 10 required. Possesses a strong knowledge and experience with database case management systems. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
