The Content Specialist leads the writing and editing a variety of communication and marketing materials derived from the conservation strategies that make a strong connection with key audiences of TNC.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Content Specialist writes and edits communication and marketing materials, aimed at informing, reporting and educating the internal and external audiences of the NASCA conservation program; He/ she will lead the responsibility for writing and editing a variety materials such as and for: fact sheets, newsletters, magazines, annual reports, digital content, brochures, books, one pagers, science based information for different platforms, executive-level speeches and presentations. S/he will assist in the management of the design and production of written and audiovisual materials and may work with freelance writers, graphic designers, photographers, printers and other vendors and staff, as required.
He/she will contribute, support and implement the marketing and communications plans derived from our conservation strategies and follow the donors’ requirements (branding, content, communication products, etc.). He/she will identify, compile, create and develop successful stories from the conservation projects. He/she tracks project results, report findings, and will need to have strong attention to detail. He/she will work closely with program leads/managers and vendors to implement communication tools/information on assigned project or program and meet quality control standards. He/she participates in devising strategies and promotions in collaboration with internal departments in each Conservation Program so as external contractors. He/she will report to the NASCA Communications Manager, with a dotted line to NASCA Marketing Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Coordinates ongoing work and basic projects in the content development field.
  • Writes and edits communication and marketing materials.
  • Interprets guidelines and analyzes information and data.
  • Support the organization of workshops and events with various actors.
  • Availability to travel to the field and to remote areas.
  • Manage assigned budget, evaluate results and develop recommendations for corrective strategies as needed.
  • Responsibility and accountability for meeting strategy/project goals and objectives.
  • Develop and foster relationships with internal departments to leverage resources and replicate best practices.
  • Be the liaison to proactively promote NASCA’s work in internal and external platforms.
  • Mimimun administrative activities, related to job function.
  • Implement and monitor, (can be with the support of external agencies), the development of materials and digital content.
  • Drives innovation and creativity.
  • Collaborates with Managers to enhance overall performance in accordance with short and long-term objectives.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree on Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Liberal Arts. 2 years’ relevant experience in the position or equivalent combination.
Skills/Experience: 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience writing or editing one or more of the following: newsletter, magazine, annual report, web-site articles/stories, staff profiles, campaign brochures, fact sheets, presentations, or equivalent.
  • Proof experience in writing, editing, proofreading, and with oral communications in both English and Spanish.
  • Experience with relevant technology such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Experience implementing and measuring communication and engagement plans/strategies.
  • Experience creating organization- or company-wide communication tools for multiple audiences.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience implementing, and managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team in different office locations and time zones.
  • Experience providing administrative or project support.
  • Experience presenting to diverse audiences
  • Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in relevant discipline.
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.
  • Experience in developing quality marketing products and plans as well as familiarity with creative processes. Design and editing knowledge is a plus
  • Experience managing different vendors at the same time.
  • Bilingual (EN, ES) 100% proven.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts and organize to complete assigned tasks/projects.
