Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA sports programs for youth, teens, and adult populations. Perform program responsibilities in accordance with the policies, goals, mission, values, and objectives established by the Dixon Family YMCA

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives 
  • Expand youth, teen, and adult sports programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
  • Creates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Organizes and conducts parent orientation meetings, and training and informational meetings for volunteer coaches.
  • Recruits qualified volunteer coaches for all sporting teams and screen them for safety approval through necessary sexual offender database.
  • Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks. 
  • Purchases and distributes team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes team photographs 
  • Organizes and conducts sports clinics.
  • Creates and enforces staff schedules for all areas of the sports department.
  • Ability to implement new ideas and programs to underserved populations in the community.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of youth sports program information, create and schedule program registrations. Review and process program scholarship applications for the department.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Compile program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in the program.
  • Ability to learn operations and accounting systems to monitor departmental goals and objectives for enrollment and budgeting targets.
  • Must be able to work flexible days and hours, including weekends and holidays on various occasions.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • One to two years of programming experience preferred
  •  Minimum age of 21 required.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisor Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens, EAP training.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
  • Excellent Time management skills
