The information technology director is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of the IT infrastructure for the organization. Ability to manage, evaluate and maintain system technologies, including networks, security, and compliance controls. Researching and implementing new technologies, establishing “best practices” and policies while maximizing return on technology investments. The goal is to ensure IT systems and people are effective and functioning within the limits of budget, time and specifications of the organization.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Analyzes complex business needs presented by the association and/or end-users and recommends solutions.
- Ensures the consistency of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards, procedures and policies for implementing technical solutions.
- Produces detailed time line for each application release and implements effective project control by monitoring the progress of the software release and reporting the status.
- Directs and prioritizes the workload of technology department personnel.
- Reviews hardware, software or new design, requiring testing prior to rollout.
- Approves all technology requirements prior to implementation.
- Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contacts, while trying to use approved vendors provided by the YMCA of USA.
- Represents the Technology department functions at association meetings.
- Directs professional development for her/his staff.
- Perform liaison duties between end users in the areas of systems design, modifications or trouble shooting.
- Develop and manage system security, including backup and recovery processes
- Evaluate information systems for strategic planning, growth and innovation
- Research areas of technology that relate to the YMCA’s needs and makes recommendations
- Develop, monitor and approve items in budget related to information technology
- Monitor the costs involved in maintaining and improving information systems, including equipment, software, staffing and support functions.
- Evaluate and recommend technology purchases based on the YMCA’s standards and needs.
- Ensure proper operating procedures are in place in regard to technology and provides available training information
- Supervise a staff team and/or volunteers
- Budgeting annually for technology department of the YMCA of Snohomish County
- Form and work with a Technology Committee\Board and meet once a quarter minimum
- Create and modify technology policies for compliance, risk and security governance
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant field preferred; or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
- Previous professional and/or management level IT experience; understanding of technology needs and systems of YMCA
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience within information technology
- Experience in the most current technologies and products used in the industry
- Ability to research and implement new technologies and solutions
- Skill in problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to exercise sensitivity in dealing with individuals of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, cognitive and physical abilities as well as individuals of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- Fluency in second language preferred
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $80,200.00 - $98,800.00
