The AARP State Office of DC is seeking an assertive student with excellent writing skills, communications experience and who enjoys a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment to join it's team in the Summer of 2018. The intern's work will include assisting the District of Columbia State Office with State branding through writing, editing, event planning, fielding and directing media calls, proactive media relations, developing media materials, and crisis communications.
Areas of Responsibility:
- The intern will report to the District of Columbia State Director and contribute as a team member, participating in all Team meetings. The intern will be responsible for researching, interviewing, editing original and existing materials, and having direct contact with Members and direct-service providers. The intern will be responsible for researching and developing a campaign and its execution, that highlights the stories of people 50+ impacted by a select issue the District of Columbia State Office is working on in 2018. The intern will also assist with creating and maintaining the State’s Facebook page and contributing to Twitter content.
Educational Background:
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors.
Compensation/Benefits:
- Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
