The Communications Intern supports the implementation of integrated communications and marketing programs that build awareness of NatureVest’s work across internal and external audiences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Communications Intern reports to NatureVest’s Director of Communications, assisting with the creation of a variety of marketing materials and providing project coordination within the NatureVest team as well as with key stakeholder colleagues in other business units of the Conservancy. S/he works on various stages of projects, including content drafting, internal review coordination, editing, presentation development, text/image/graphic layout in marketing templates, and publication/announcement coordination.
In this role, the Communications Intern assists NatureVest with reaching and influencing key audiences, while gaining hands-on experience in a range of marketing disciplines and exposure to the impact investing and conservation/non-profit sectors. S/he may have additional ad hoc opportunities to assist with other activities within NatureVest and/or other marketing activities of the Conservancy.
This will be a 4-month, part time position. Applicants should be able to work 10-15 hours per week on a part time basis (paid hourly).
Duties are performed under direct supervision or established guidelines
- Research, analyze and synthesize information to inform development and updating of marketing materials
- Prioritize tasks and make day-to-day decisions within the scope of work assignments
- Liaise directly with NatureVest team members, Conservancy colleagues and limited external collaborators
- Demonstrate highest sensitivity in handling confidential information
- Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Major, concentration or equivalent work experience related to communications/marketing, investing and/or conservation
- Experience in business writing, editing and proofreading
- Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook for communications, writing/editing documents and managing calendars
- Experience providing administrative or project support.

- Completion of significant coursework toward a graduate degree related to communications/marketing, finance and/or conservation

- Ability to gather and synthesize large quantities of information into succinct and clear communications
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail and deadlines to complete assigned tasks/projects
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with critical deadlines
- Ability to apply creativity in a business context
- Ability to work in a professional manner with internal and external contacts of various levels
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Experience with Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with online marketing tools such as MailChimp, HootSuite, LinkedIn
