The Assistant Early Learning Director will reports to the Early Learning Director. This position is responsible for assisting with the overall operation of the Early Learning program site (s), including licensing, curriculum development and delivery, health and safety of the children.

Areas of Responsibility: 

 Program Operation:

  • Ensures adequate safety procedures are in place for the center and classes
  • Ensures the proper curriculum implementation (i.e. Creative Curriculum)
  • Supervises programs, including operation, maintenance, appearance, and cleanliness
  • Partner with parents to effectively address their questions/concerns
  • Assists with classroom observations and technical support
  • Substitutes in classrooms as needed
  • Supports the program goals of the YMCA as a whole and the branch in particular
  • Operates facility and program in Early Learning Director’s absence

Staff supervision:

  • Assist with Hiring, training, coaching, supervising and evaluating Early Learning staff
  • Implement reward and recognition practices
  • Organizes and tracks employee training to enusure staff are in compliance with licenisng regulations and ensuring trainings are suited to improve the quality of our teachers and centers
  • Responsible for maintaining staff files and maintaining staff compliance in CPR/First Aid certifications, including blood borne pathogens, HAZMAT, and other required certifications of the field
Educational Background: 
a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, education, recreation or equivalent; graduate level education highly preferred. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • For position consideration, you must have the minimum qualifications: Minimum of three years’ experience working primarily with preschoolers or school age children (depending on program) in a licensed child care center. Experience staff supervision and staff training and development. This position requires one to be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, must be physically active to play games and sports with the children, must be able to pick-up at least 35 pounds, and must have visual acuity to observe all children. Must have the following clearances upon hire: Drug and alcohol screening, criminal background check, Tuberculosis (TB) test, CPR/First Aid Certification. Must meet all jurisdictional requirements.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $34,700.00 - $43,350.00
