Under the direction of the COO, the VP is responsible for providing strategic leadership to build the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact. Developing and implementing effective marketing and communication strategies to grow market share of the Ys programs, services and membership will be a key component of this job. Additionally, the VP will ensure that opportunities to strengthen the image of the YMCA in the community are leveraged.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops annual operating goals, objectives and plan for the marketing and communications area. Monitors the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met.
  • Develop, produce and distribute program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with membership and marketing plans.
  • Establishes contacts with media representatives and writes and submits press releases. Maintains updated files of YMCA’s media relations (both press and electronic).
  • Provides oversight to branches and departments regarding brand integrity, public relations, marketing, graphic design and special events.  Ensures consistency and professionalism in all print materials, marketing materials, and digital marketing communications.
  • Coordinate an integrated Marketing plan that focuses on website and social media platforms.
  • Develops and coordinates key messaging to enhance the organization’s image and reputation.
  • Prepares, scripts and coaches President/CEO and other key leaders on internal/external communications.
  • Develops and implements a social media strategy in support of advancing the Y’s mission and cause.
  • Develops, monitors and administers assigned annual budget and maintains a positive fiscal position.
  • Develops effective working relationships with service groups, community organizations and companies.  Makes presentations about the YMCA.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises assigned staff and volunteers.  Provides development and leadership.
  • Provides and maintains related statistics and reports.
  • Leads assigned aspects of the fund-raising campaign.
  • May plan and coordinate special events.
  • Complies with all Somerset County YMCA Policies and Procedures.
  • Represents the YMCA with key community organizations and events as required. 
  • Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field (Marketing, Communications, or Business) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of six (6) or more years of progressive marketing and communication experience with proven record of successful design and implementation of marketing strategies.
  • Proven organizational, financial and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries. 
  • Multi-Team Leader certification or able to obtain within 3 years of hire. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $83,000.00 - $105,000.00
