The Executive Director leads team members in driving for optimal branch performance results. The Executive Director recruits, selects, leads, and develops team members in consultation with the Chief Operating Officer. The Executive Director is charged with operating the branch according to the policies of the Association.
- Leads in the development of community relationships and business partnerships (sponsorships) to help insure short and long-range financial support of the branch and the association
- Delivers on the mission of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette through programs and services designed to align with the community it serves
- Ensures collaboration and cooperation with other community organizations, including the City of Sherwood and its Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
- Leads annual membership promotion and development
- Determines program staff structure in consultation with Chief Operating Officer. Provides position descriptions, negotiates performance standards, and provides ongoing supervision within the guidelines of the association.
- Responsible for developing the branch budget, along with procedures to achieve budgetary targets
- Administers the branch program budget (currently 2.8 million), implementing timely corrective measures to maintain fiscal soundness of the branch
- Presents to the community a facility that consistently meets a high standard of cleanliness and orderly function
- Central point of contact for the Sherwood YMCA Board of Managers, the City of Sherwood (which owns the facility we operate) and participates in recruiting new members for the board
- Ensures thorough and high quality strategic branch marketing, promotion, and management, with measurable operating objectives
- Maintains effective volunteer support, including recruiting, training, and recognizing volunteers
This position may initially be awarded as Associate Executive Director with enhanced mentoring for career development depending upon experience, qualifications and final branch staffing structure.

- Ability to adequately observe and supervise participant activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate management techniques, in an environment where several activities are going on at the same time (adults, youth, and family)
- Incorporate and model YMCA Christian principles
- Pursue long-term professional relationships with staff, volunteers, participants, and members
- Ability to communicate well with children and adults, both in writing and verbally
- Ability and willingness to work extended hours when necessary
- Promote humor, positive attitude and justice with members and staff
- Ability to pass YMCA background check
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
Salary: $60,000.00 - $84,000.00
