The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in staff development, budget accountability, innovative thinking, community involvement, member-centered customer service and retention as well as being a people oriented individual with a focus on constantly improving the member experience. The ideal candidate ensures successful operation of the Membership Department including staff supervision and development, superior customer service, community relations, collaborations, budgeting and financial results and will implement new procedures and methods to achieve strategic membership goals for the Association.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
- Monitors monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.
- Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
- Ensures operational membership growth of the YMCA through member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies and collaborations.
- Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Creates a member-focused culture. Models relationship-building skills and listen first skills in all interactions.
- Oversee monthly staff trainings for each department and ensure consistent safety/emergency response training is performed. Maintain complete familiarity of all risk management procedures and policies for departments and the overall branch. Ensures all accidents and incidents are reported involving self, participants, guests and other employees. Maintains a safe work environment, free of clutter, debris and hazardous conditions and ensures cleanliness of facility.
- Develop, manage and monitor assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Recommend adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submit reports on current operations.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Communications department to coordinate all promotional efforts and use social media to its best outcomes.
- Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/
- boards as assigned. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
- Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
- Responsible for maintaining current corporate memberships, as well as consistently recruiting more corporate memberships in the service area.
- Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff.
- Provides reports to committees, Board of Directors and the President/ CEO.
- Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals. Effectively communicate the mission, vision and values of the West Suburban YMCA.
- The assigned department operate seven-days a week and will require a flexible schedule to maintain consistency and delivery of services. Please prepare to observe your department at all hours of operation on a regular basis.
- Coordinates membership special events and activities.
- Responsible for educating department staff in all emergency procedures protocols.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in human services, business or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- Five or more years of management experience and staff development, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Knowledge and experience in operations, including staff supervision and development, successful management practices, quality program development and implementation, customer service and sound financial practices.
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Understanding of the nature and purpose of YMCA and the respective roles of volunteerism and staff.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification required. YMCA Organizational leader preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required.
- Other certifications necessary for related field.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $46,000.00 - $51,000.00
