Program Director-Youth Sports, Sports Camp, Teens

Plans, develops, and executes Youth Sports, Sports Camp, and Teens programs.  Manages adult and youth sports leagues, climbing wall activities, and birthday party rentals.   Responsible for staff supervision and the successful administration of related departments.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages, directs and coordinates Youth Sports, Sports Camp, Teens program, Adult Sports Leagues, Climbing Wall activities, and Birthday Party Rentals.  Ensures high quality programs, establishes new program activities, and ensures program enrollment targets are met.
  • Develops and manages the staff schedule and program menu.  Fills in for unplanned absences of program staff.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs program employees and volunteers.  Reviews and evaluates staff performance.  Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.  Maintains accurate records of staff certifications.
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position.  Exercises necessary controls to ensure operations are carried out and a balanced fiscal operation exists. 
  • Develops the operating schedule for related programs.
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.  Evaluates program effectiveness.  Monitors daily operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of program equipment. 
  • Facilitates new member engagement and retention efforts, including 30 day follow up calls.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  • Responds to all inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Provides staff leadership for the annual campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Maintains proper records and department files.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness.  Develops and implements action plans in response to customer feedback. 
  • Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA, including membership growth and development.  Ensures outstanding member service and responds to member feedback.  
  • Carries out other tasks as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in recreation or physical education, a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • One to two years of related experience, as a coordinator or supervisor of related programs.
  • Ability to direct assigned operations including supervision and development of staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
  • Possess and maintain current certifications required as per program elements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use analytical, interpretative and evaluative thought in making decisions and solving problems. 
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office software.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,560.00
