The Development Assistant is responsible for providing critical administrative and operational support to both the VP, Great Lakes Office/Deputy Director of the Mississippi Flyway, as well as the Vice President of Development for the Mississippi Flyway. S/he will be an important part of the Flyway Development team and supportive partner to the leadership of this conservation region, assisting with a variety of needs to broaden the scope and effectiveness of programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Be responsible for the extensive scheduling of conference calls, appointments, meetings and travel arrangements for executive development staff;
- Assist both the VPs with basic technical and logistical needs, such as travel & expense reconciliation, printing and preparing materials, and fundraising mailings.
- Set up internal and external meetings; help plan staff workshops and cultivation events, order catering, and collaborate with other support staff as needed.
- Process gift transmittals for donations received at the location and enter information into Audubon’s donor database, Millennium, for team members. Create and distribute report information.
- Ensure timely processing of all bills and contracts.
- Other special projects as assigned by either VPs.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years’ experience in a professional setting supporting senior-level staff, ideally on a decentralized fundraising team, or any suitable combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, to include Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Experience with donor tracking software and web-based systems strongly desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a strong ability to edit and proofread documents.
- Detail-oriented approach to work with strong organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- A self-starter, who is able to prioritize and complete work with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
- Professional, personable, and efficient approach to all aspects of position; must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- A flexible approach to work, with the willingness to travel and work some evenings, if needed.
- Interest in development, conservation and the mission of the National Audubon Society.
