The Human Resources Associate is responsible for providing a broad range of Human Resources support to Audubon staff.  Specifically, s/he will be responsible for leading the continued growth and improvement of Audubon’s Internship and Fellowship Program, WINGS.  Additionally, the Human Resources Associate will have the opportunity to partner with other members of the HR team on various projects including onboarding and staffing, training and development, employee relations, and HRIS/compensation analysis.  As a valued member of the Human Resources Department, this individual will have the opportunity to be a part of a team working on organizational development initiatives and helping to reinvent the HR function for Audubon.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manage Audubon’s Wings Internship/Fellowship Program by assisting hiring managers with outreach strategies, overseeing the tracking of interns and fellows across the organization, and developing effective relationships with hiring managers and external partners i.e. colleges, universities or institutions of higher learning
  • In partnership with the Talent Acquisition Manager, develop strategies to  diversify internship/fellowship candidate pools and hires
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify innovative ways to scale program growth and execute towards existing goals more effectively
  • Support HR team on key processes such as performance management, talent development, employee relations and compensation
  • Provide strong customer service to operating areas on all aspects of new hire processing
  • Coordinate and assist in leading new employee orientation sessions in order to introduce new staff to Audubon’s culture, operations, and other important organizational aspects
  • Assist with the writing and editing of job descriptions
  • Support hiring managers by researching advertising venues and posting job opportunities, as needed; screening resumes and conducting phone/in-person interviews
  • Be the “go to” person for all HR data requests and reports, including maintencance of HR dashboard, for HR staff and senior management, in partnership with external HRIS/Payroll partner, OasisDEG
  • Participate in compensation projects by researching, preparing, and responding to salary surveys
  • Support year-end merit increase and bonus process, collecting data and following up with managers as needed
  • Provide HR reporting to support compensation decisions that meet pay-for-performance and other business objectives
  • Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding HR-related issues, questions and concerns, while maintaining good working relationships and building credibility with staff
  • Provide assistance and training resources to managers on the interpretation of employment laws, HR policies and procedures
  • Assist in the preparation of internal employee communications, severance agreements, and other important documents
  • Facilitate effective communication between Headquarters and other locations within Audubon’s largely decentralized network
  • Design, create and update the internal HR Intranet web page, to include org charts, policies, HR information, employee resources, etc.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years of HR generalist experience, 1 - 2 years experience recruiting for entry-level positions / internships
  • Excellent oral, written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach to work.  Must be comfortable working with staff at all levels of the organization including C-Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills and the ability to maintain a team-focused attitude in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of employment and benefit laws
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and difficult situations
  • Basic understanding of compensation concepts and market pricing preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office, to include: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint; knowledge of MS Visio a plus
  • Experience navigating and reporting data from ATS and HRIS/HRMS, with a strong preference for iCIMS and HRPyramid
