NRDC seeks an IT Help Desk Technician to work with the Information Technology team in our Washington, DC office. You will join a small but growing team of 15, currently with 9 based in NY, 2 in DC, 1 in SF, 1 in LA, 1 in Chicago and 1 in Vancouver. This includes a help desk team of 8, a systems team of 4, project management and leadership. Although we are geographically distributed, we enjoy close working relationships and collaborate continuously on a wide range of projects and activities that support and advance our organizational strategy.

The IT Help Desk Technician’s primary role is ensuring the success of our employees in using Information Technology to accomplish their work and advance our mission.
- Proactively help users understand and use Information Technology resources
- Provide help desk support for staff, manage and support client systems Windows and Mac, including outreach, problem intake and troubleshooting through resolution
- Serve as the first-tier level of support for all computing or network problems encountered by the staff
- Assist Site Managers in monitoring and reporting the state of the network and computing equipment
- Administer user accounts and access rights
- Diagnose and maintain local systems inventory, system deployments, replacements and rollouts
- Work with Operations and Support Manager to prepare and maintain systems documentation
- Maintain NRDC IT’s policies and standards
- Train users on system usage, procedures and protocols
- 1-8 years of desktop/laptop support experience for both Windows and Mac operating systems
- 1-2 years of networking experience
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent judgment and decision making skills
- Ability to identify and implement process and policy improvements
