The Youth and Family Program Director provides direct supervision of staff and is responsible for the successful operation of quality programs for children, teens and families. The Director will work in collaboration with other department Directors to achieve the Association’s goals related to Youth & Family services; provide programs that foster children’s social, physical, spiritual, and mental growth; and ensure the health, welfare and safety of program participants.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Plans, administers and evaluates Youth and Family programs which may include parent’s night out, family fun nights, birthday parties and signature family-related association events.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers for programs, such as Kids Zone, summer camps, birthday and parents night out parties and any other Youth and Family programs.
- Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops and implements a plan to grow participation in youth and family programs.
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Provides “hands-on” leadership to youth program activities for successful Branch operations.
- Ensures the health, safety and well-being of children in the program, by providing close supervision of all activities.
- Develops effective program recruitment strategies/campaigns ensuring engagement of youth participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience supervising youth programs and operations; with minimum two years managing staff, payroll and budgets.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum two years experience in youth programming.
- Variety of knowledge of youth programs including design, successful implementation, and ongoing management and continuous growth. Previous child development, childcare and camp experience is preferred.
- Strong initiative, creativity, flexibility and able to promote an environment that supports the Y mission and core values
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, flexible and ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment.
- Outstanding communication, organization and planning abilities.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $34,000.00 - $37,000.00
