The Chief Executive Officer of the Green County Family YMCA will report directly to the Board of Directors. The CEO is responsible for working closely with the board, community and leadership Team to create and implement the long term strategic plan of the Green County YMCA. The CEO must have strong fiscal management experience and a successful background working with external partners. A Cause Driven leader with significant competencies in: Advancing our Mission and Cause, Building Relationships, Leading Operations and Developing and Inspiring People will be critical. The CEO will play a significant role in capital fundraising for a new facility partnership being developed with local university and health care partner. This is a tremendous opportunity for a visionary leader with a strong background in fund development, operational expertise and staff and volunteer leadership development.     

Areas of Responsibility: 

The board believes its new CEO should be an experienced leader who has the background and qualities that will permit him or her to achieve excellence in the following roles:

  • Capital development – The board has begun the process of capital fundraising to eliminate $205,000 capital debt. Lead gift has been secured and community fundraising has begun. New CEO will play key role in taking the campaign to completion and success.
  • Annual campaign fundraising – The CEO will be expected to develop and implement an annual campaign strategy to the great work of the Green County YMCA and service to the community. The board has developed a solid donor base to build around for future growth. The 2016 annual support raised was $101,000 and $84,818 was distributed to the community.
  • Advocating the YMCA vision and long-term strategy – The CEO will need to develop and implement a long-term strategy for growth and sustainability with guidance from the board and input from the leadership team and community. Ability to create and convey a clear vision of the future will be critical to the success of the Y.  
  • Build and manage a strong staff and board - The ability to hire, motivate, nurture, and retain staff as well as assisting in developing a strong Board of Directors. The ability to create a plan to ensure that the YMCA has an outstanding, dedicated and collaborative team. Experience with evaluating strengths and weaknesses of all key staff and work with board leadership to create a plan for individual development and progression. 
Educational Background: 
Accredited 4-year college degree required.
Skills/Experience: 

Minimum Candidate Criteria:

  • Minimum of 7 years prior experience in senior management role with the YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff. 
  • Proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management in excess of $1,000,000

Preferred Candidate Criteria:

  • YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (Note: Candidates not already in possession of this certification have up to three years to obtain via YMCA of the USA).
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships
  • Experience planning, developing, and operating facility. 
  • Fundraising experience including capital campaigns, annual campaigns, and securing grants
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary Range: $68,000 - $74,000 hiring range which commensurate with experience. 

Benefits:  Retirement Contribution 10% paid by YMCA 2% by employee once eligibility met. PTO and other benefits outlined in personnel policy

Residency Expectation:  Living in the YMCA’s service area is preferred.
