Learning Initiatives and Foundation Coordinator

Under the direction of the President, President Elect, Board of Directors and the Executive Director, the Learning Initiatives and Foundation Coordinator is responsible for the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association’s programming for Continuing Education events, LEAP events, and other assigned events, as well as content for the website and handling GVMA Foundation activities.

POSITION VALUE TO THE ORGANIZATION:

  • Handles LEAP and all non-conference CE programs (live or virtual) from start to finish.
  • Supervises independent contractor on speaker recruitment/contracting and program grid development.
  • Serves as the primary staff person for all GVMA Foundation activities.
Areas of Responsibility: 

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY FOR GVMA RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Designs, develops and executes LEAP and CE programs including finding and scheduling speakers, develops and posts promotional details for website (schedule of events, speaker bio and photograph), and prepares MemberClicks registration forms.  Handles all attendee communications (preregistration emails, CE certificates, etc.) for assigned events.
  2. Develops RFPs (Request for Proposal) for hotel properties to submit proposals for hosting CE events or communicates with specialty/emergency clinics to gauge interest in hosting.  Works with Director of Operations to make decisions on where events will be hosted (and hotel contract for signature of the Executive Director if applicable).
  3. Design, develop and execute CE programs beginning with pulling the Speaker Database information for the current year and sending that information to independent contractor to begin the recruitment process.  Identifies where event will be held and gathers housing and attendee information for promotion.  Once speakers are identified and speaker agreements sent, works with independent contractor to develop promotional details for the website (speaker bio, picture, schedule of events, etc.).  Handles all attendee communications (preregistration emails, CE certificates, etc.) for assigned events.
  4. For VetSouth and the Emerald Coast Veterinary Conference, works with independent contractor by pulling the Speaker Database information to begin the recruiting process, completing the grids with speaker credentials and topics, and ensures speaker information is gathered for promotion on the website.
  5. Serves as moderator for all webinars and handles them from start to finish—working with independent contractor to schedule speakers, ensures questions for testing are submitted by speakers on time, communicates with speakers 2 weeks prior to program with details for event, moderates the webinar on day of the event, sends out CE certificates to those who successfully participate, and edits recording of webinar for posting on Learning Management system after the event.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY FOR GVMA FOUNDATION RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Handles promotion and administration of Foundation programs—memorial cards and contributions (and develop a Powerpoint for the GVMA Annual Meeting that recognizes all in memoriam), GVMA CAN, and the spay/neuter grant, including the donor acknowledgement and recognition process.
  2. Rehabilitate the spay/neuter grant program with the goal of gaining wider usage by GVMA member veterinarians, determining reasons that veterinarians and hospitals have not participated in the Spay/Neuter and develop solutions that increase participation, build a toolbox of best practices for participating in the program to share with members, develop and implement strategies for the spay neuter program to have participation by veterinarians in half the counties in GA, develop a marketing plan to engage members and collect information of interested veterinarians and hospitals prior to the Application period, find a way to promote the GVMA positive activities in each of the communities that the spay/neuter program is being conducted and share with membership updates on the program as it is being implemented.
  3. Works with staff to regularly update the Foundation web page
  4. Perform other duties as needed/assigned.

Educational Background: 
College degree required
Skills/Experience: 

Qualifications

  • Must have excellent interpersonal & communication skills with members and volunteers.
  • Excellent project management skills are required.
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams) are required.
  • Experience with Asana and Fresh Desk a plus.
  • Staff works remotely but applicant MUST live in Georgia to administer our events.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Compensation:  $50,000-$60,000 depending on experience
