The Director, Collaborative Improvement will lead the design, coordination and execution of SSN’s “Improvement Cohorts,” wherein practitioners align on shared aims, use shared indicators and measures, and test practices to improve postsecondary outcomes for youth in NYC. The Director, Collaborative Improvement will report to the CEO and collaborate closely across the team.
In collaboration with the Director, Network Strategy, lead the design and execution of “Improvement Cohorts” focused on improving postsecondary outcomes (70%)
- Coordinate the identification of the cohort’s shared aims. This includes supporting engagements with Network members to understand key barriers and opportunities to address those barriers; identifying (in partnership with the Network), synthesizing, and documenting key outcomes to focus on and programs/practices to strengthen; and coordinating decision-making processes;
- Coordinate the creation and/or refinement of shared indicators and measurement tools for practitioners to use to gauge effectiveness of their programs and progress towards the shared aim;
- Refine and/or develop tools to support cohorts of practitioners in conducting continuous improvement cycles, including analyzing and reviewing data, conducting factor analysis to identify where to focus change ideas, creating action plans, documenting the efficacy of change ideas;
- Act as lead facilitator of practitioner-facing sessions and coordinate materials and logistics, including timelines, work plans, participant outreach/engagement, agendas, and presentations;
- Provide technical assistance to members in each phase of the continuous improvement process;
- Partner with outside experts to deliver technical assistance and/or support planning and session design where needed;
- Identify areas where youth input could add valuable perspective to continuous improvement processes and partner with other SSN staff to invite youth input;
- Maintain appropriate documentation of progress of cohorts including, but not limited to, meeting notes, emerging learnings and challenges, and more;
- Manage relationships with key external partners (e.g. other intermediaries, city agencies) to support coordination, stay on top of trends and opportunities for SSN to add value, and ensure Network learnings are scaled more broadly.
Support design and implementation of additional aspects of SSN’s network engagement process (20%)
- Support design and implementation of network-wide data gathering efforts aimed at increasing our understanding of members and our/their collective assets and needs;
- Partner with the Director, Knowledge and Learning to synthesize learnings that result from continuous improvement processes and present in ways that are accessible and actionable for practitioners;
- Conduct 1:1 meetings with members as needed to build relationships and gather qualitative data and contribute to outreach/recruitment efforts for Improvement Cohorts and other Network offerings;
- Collaborate with team members to design, manage, and implement member advising and input structures.
Planning, Strategy and Leadership (10%)
- Contribute to a comprehensive Network strategy in partnership with other members of SSN’s leadership team;
- Actively contribute to SSN’s culture through modeling SSN’s core values;
- Host full team meetings as needed to reflect, plan, and make decisions.

You have robust experience working directly with youth in different contexts and are passionate about ensuring more youth workers have access to the tools and support they need to do their job more efficiently and effectively.
