Founded in 1912 the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society “GMHS” is a private animal shelter in coastal Virginia. The shelter’s mission is to improve life for all animals by providing temporary shelter, compassionate care, community support and education.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Serving as the face of the organization and as its primary spokesperson, the Executive Director leads GMHS in a manner that supports and guides its mission and vision. Though a primary focus is on fundraising, the role oversees all aspects of the organization –administration, finance, marketing, development and advocacy--and all programs, working closely with its Board of Directors
IDEAL CANDIDATE POSSESSES: ·
A passion to save the lives of homeless animals! · Knowledge of animal advocacy on the local, state, and national level. · Experience in a senior leadership position. · Measurable experience in organizational development to include, administration, shelter operations, finance, human resources, marketing and communications and development. · Ability to evaluate, transform and implement policies and procedures for moving an organization to a new level of excellence and sustainability.
QUALIFICATIONS: · Minimum of 5 years of executive-level experience · Animal welfare experience desirable · Thorough and measurable knowledge of all aspects of fundraising. · Extensive experience in financial management with annual budgets of $1 – 3 million. · Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
