Community Outreach Specialist

General Summary
This position will perform key functions in mobilizing volunteers to coordinate and conduct community outreach and education, organizing events and securing private and corporate support to reach specific mission and revenue goals as articulated in the FY15-FY18 strategic plan and beyond. This is a part-time position with benefits.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct timely and effective promotion and outreach on behalf of the organization, with a focus on increasing awareness of and promotion of care and support programs, research initiatives and provider resources.
- Provide training, resources and supervision of volunteers and interns to achieve strategic priorities (growing awareness and concern, increasing revenue, furthering research and public policy aims.)
- Support revenue generation from varied sources to ensure chapter viability and growth.
- Execute Walk to End Alzheimer's, The Longest Day and Reason to Hope events consistent with the organizational standards and best practices to include recruiting and supporting volunteers, coaching multiple committees, planning logistics and cultivating sponsors.
- Plan, schedule, market and deliver Association community education programs, care consultation, support groups, conference presentations and other trainings and activities as needed.
- Identify and meet the needs of diverse communities and populations, including those with young onset, Native American, and LGBT markets.
- Coordinate outreach and education with physicians and other healthcare providers.
- Represent the chapter at appropriate and assigned meetings and events.
- Provide information and referral to constituents in a professional and compassionate manner. Access appropriate information and make recommendations for care and follow-up. Provide accurate and timely documentation and follow-up of call interactions and interventions.
- Effectively leverage Association and community resources with keen attention to identifying and applying best practices.
- Assist with essential office functions; prepare reports and provide information as requested and required.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required in health care related field: social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, gerontology, public health or related.
- Minimum of three to five years of experience in community outreach, conducting education programs, and volunteer management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and able to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to work independently and succeed in challenging, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship and team building skills. Able to work successfully with a wide range of people including persons with dementia, family caregivers, allied community partners, corporations, foundations, and volunteers.
- Excellent computer proficiency, experience with CRM software and familiar with Google suite and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel locally and regionally as needed to perform job duties.
- Valid driver's license, proof of vehicle insurance and access to reliable, personal vehicle to meet travel requirements
