General Summary

The Community Engagement Manager for the South Central Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding relationships that lead to increased contributed income and increased community engagement in the Alzheimer's Association's South Central Wisconsin chapter region.

This position is based at the Chapter office in Madison, WI with frequent travel throughout the Chapter's territory and reports to the Executive Director. 

Essential Job Functions

Walk to End Alzheimer's:

  • Recruits, trains and stewards volunteers and serves as staff liaison for volunteer event planning committees for all Walks
  • Recruits, retains and motivates Walk teams and individual walkers and acts as a liaison between team captains and walkers and the Association
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards regional walk sponsors and donors, including in-kind donors
  • Ensures all event logistics are planned and carried out for all South Central WI Walks, with volunteer participation
  • Works with the Director to ensure that all Walks meet national standards and contain all national and chapter-mandated elements
  • Provides year-round stewardship to volunteers, donors and walkers to foster retention
  • Recruits and supervises event interns and office volunteers as needed, in conjunction with the other team members
Benefit Events:
  • Works with South Central WI Executive Director and  regional leadership staff to provide information and assistance to local benefit event organizers
  • Identifies and cultivates relationships that lead to new benefit events
  • Assists and supports community volunteers interested in fundraising for the Association in the South Central WI region, Dane and Rock County focus
  • Partners with Corporate Initiatives team and other development staff to ensure that all organizers and participants are thanked in a timely and appropriate manner
Other Fundraising including The Longest Day and Blondes vs Brunettes/RivAlz:
  • Identifies opportunities for new and increased corporate/foundation/community funding in South Central Wisconsin.  Works with the program staff to submit proposals for funding to elevate and support other chapter fundraising events
  • Works with leadership  to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major individual donors in the region
  • Seeks out opportunities for new events and fundraising in South Central Wisconsin
Communications:
  • Participates in the creation and the distribution of all media and marketing materials related to the Walks to End Alzheimer's, in conjunction with the Madison office
  • Creates and maintains listing of current media contacts throughout the region
Other:
  • Develops a collaborative working relationship with program staff to continue regional growth of the Alzheimer's Association
  • Works with the Executive Director  to determine the annual contributed income and expense budgets and an annual fundraising plan for the region
  • Seeks new opportunities to present dementia education to key audiences (e.g., corporate brown bag lunches) and partners with program staff to deliver education programs
  • Participates in advocacy activities, including  identifying and referring individuals who may be appropriate as advocates to the State Public Policy directors
  • Identifies new potential board and/or committee members and refers to the Executive Director

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • 3-5 years' progressive work experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or marketing
  • Demonstrated experience in volunteer management
  • Demonstrated success in event-related fundraising preferred
  • Ability to sell the Chapter's programs and events to a variety of audiences, including corporate management, individual participants and volunteers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to engage effectively with diverse audiences, including internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong presentation skills to effectively
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy while successfully managing several projects at once
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to analyze data; Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • High level of enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Proficency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access). Familiarity with BlackBaud, Convio or other fundraising software preferred
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for the job
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout chapter territory as needed
  • Must possess valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and move about to retrieve files
