The Director of Campaigns is responsible for working with various other departments of the organization to identify and run high-profile, effective, and innovative campaigns using cutting edge digital tactics that win real victories for women against white supremacist patriarchy while growing the Women’s March audience and furthering Women’s March’s goals and mission through media savvy, intersectional, strategic and well-informed campaigning.

The Director of Campaigns position will work with the programming team to identify quarterly campaigns for the organization, including introducing and implementing rapid response campaigns depending on cultural and political current events. The Director of Campaigns reports to the Deputy Executive Director of Program and is a member of the Programming team.

 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Identify and execute high-profile and impactful Women’s March campaigns 

  • Develop, research and glean a thorough and in-depth understanding of each campaign including the action logic, the intended target/s, what goal, related policies, etc through asset mapping and other tools

  • Lead in the drafting and development of strategic, fast-paced, rapid response campaign plans that utilize digital tools to engage and grow Women’s March’s membership with a knowledge of the demographic makeup of our base as well as that of our leaders

  • Ensure campaign implementation follows organizational guidelines

  • Create and stage campaign materials: emails, SMS messages, campaign pages, consult on social media posts, etc

  • Coordinate media, creative, digital, and (where applicable) on-the-ground events, such as petition deliveries, house parties, and rallies for your campaigns, working with appropriate staff or consultants

  • Coordinate between internal and external teams (social media, merch related to campaigns, strategy, and comms) to produce cohesive, powerful campaigns

  • Coordinate related merch with The Outrage for each campaign 

  • Create and maintain connections to influencers + agents as needed, for use as related to campaigns

  • Over the first year in the role, develop skills across a wide variety of digital tools and tactics to move forward your campaigning opportunities 

  • Compile reports of campaign performance and results
  • Improve new campaigns using data and feedback from existing and previous projects
  • After each campaign, schedule and coordinate a staff-wide debrief

  • Be the point person for Meltwater as pertains to campaigns and digital outreach

 

Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to run multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to take the initiative on ideating innovative campaign ideas

 

  • Ability to stay abreast of the news cycle and glean what is applicable to Women’s March for a campaign

  • Strong understanding and ability to differentiate between goals, strategies, and tactics 

  • A demonstrated ability to learn on the job and a desire to develop and deepen digital skills 

  • Knowledge about political and cultural issues related to women’s issues, especially with an intersectional feminist approach

  • A strong understanding of the systems of oppression and political climate which inform Women’s March's campaigning

  • Proven writing ability in a relevant advocacy setting (or ability to develop this skill)

  • Experience leveraging earned media tactics to win campaigns (or ability to develop this skill)

  • Experience with and understanding of cultural organizing or electoral politics

  • Experience managing complex projects from start to finish, independently and as part of a team 

Compensation/Benefits: 
  •  $70,000-$80,000
