Oil Change International is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and detail-oriented Accounting Associate who can manage multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment with a group of dedicated activists. Integral to the functioning of Oil Change International, the Accounting Associate will work with the Operations and Finance Director to support accounting needs.
- Reports to: Operations and Finance Director
- Location: Virtual/Remote in Metro DC area
- Time commitment: 15-20 hours/week, flexible schedule during business hours, possibility of increased hours in the future

Accounting tasks:
- Provide accounting support, including coding expenses and processing payments according to OCI policy and in a timely fashion.
- Process and code staff expense reports according to OCI guidelines.
- Ensure the Accountant's monthly questions are adequately answered in a timely fashion.
- Upload bank statements and other documentation to drive, maintaining an organizational system.
- Deposit checks on a regular basis.
- Ensure staff members submit expense reports by established deadlines.
- Regularly update per diem rates for domestic and international travel.
- Update financial policies and procedures, as well as reimbursement rates, on a regular basis.
- Assist staff with expense reports as needed.
- Support Operations and Finance Director with budgeting and other tasks as needed.
- Process Movement Support Fund grants.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Bill.com
- Experience using of Quickbooks Online
- 2-3 years of accounts payable experience preferred
Skills and experience required:
- At least three to five years of paid or volunteer experience with financial tasks for a group, non-profit organization, or business.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Self-starter who can manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written communications skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with online tools, word processing and spreadsheets, plus a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
- Ability to work within a collaborative management style.
- Sensitivity to issues of privilege, class, and race, and dedication to incorporating principles of justice into organizational work and alignment with OCI’s values.
Salary range: $28.85 - $31.25 per hour

Employees are eligible to set up the 401k plan upon hire; after their first year of employment, Oil Change will match the regular employee’s contribution up to 3% of their salary.
