Field Organizing Associate

The Field Organizing Associate will be responsible for supporting Field Organizers and volunteers in their work across ten states with Audubon chapters, partners, supporters, and volunteers to accomplish advocacy victories in communities across America. S/He will be highly energetic, adaptable, relationship-oriented, and a results-driven team player who engages field staff as well as national and state stakeholders.

The Field Organizing Associate will help train and build the capacity of Field Organizers, the Audubon network,  and volunteer leaders and serve as a vital link in bringing Audubon’s ambitious climate-focused strategic plan to life in communities from coast to coast and in making Audubon the most effective advocacy network in America. 

The Field Organizing Associate will also ensure that the Audubon network receives the support it needs to address climate change action at the local, state and national level while creating safe political space and a greater demand for change for climate solutions.

This role will report to the Field Organizing Manager. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • In collaboration with Field Organizing manager, provide direction, guidance, and support to a distributed team of organizers from various states; ensuring quarterly goals are being tracked and met, needs supported and facilitating programmatic goals
  • Provide organizational support for national programs including organizing and administering calls and video conferences
  • Create content (talking points, promotional copy, email appeals, etc.) as needed to support Field Organizers
  • Develop and deliver community outreach program implementation, and capacity building training among field organizers, chapter leaders, partners and volunteers
  • Develop and deliver technical training for Voter Activation Network (VAN) and EveryAction
  • Facilitate communication and problem-solving and provide direct support as needed/requested (e.g., host check-in calls, facilitate on-site meetings, etc.)
  • Facilitate creation of campaign/work plans
  • Act as liaison and coordinator with other stakeholders in the field project
  • Manage contracts, invoices, etc.
  • Participate in evaluation and implementation of digital platforms for tracking and engaging outreach and volunteer activity
  • Master digital platforms and provide support to volunteers and full-time organizers
  • Provide support for data capture- bulk uploads, data entry, data cleaning, etc.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of field organizing practices and protocols
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years field organizing, campaign or project management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability build consensus amongst a wide range of individuals.
  • Comfort with presenting and engaging in public speaking events also necessary; experience leading trainings required.
  • Strong problem solving skills, including ability to respond quickly and effectively to unforeseen challenges.
  • A self-starter with a team-focused attitude, one with excellent problem-solving, judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Comfort working independently in a fast-paced environment; exceptional time management, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience analyzing data and providing recommendations strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with VAN/EveryActions platform, digital organizing tools (including CRMs and voter files), Microsoft Office and other web-based applications.  Experience with social media platforms required.
  • Ability to provide technical support to network of organizers and activists.
  • Ability to write and produce materials including fact sheets, guides and web copy.
  • Strong commitment to conservation and climate solutions.
  • Willing and able to travel and work nonstandard hours, e.g., evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • SCRUM/Agile experience a plus.
