The YMCA of Greater New York reaches half a million New Yorkers through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  The Vanderbilt YMCA is seeking an experienced individual who under the supervision of the Youth and Family Director, will be responsible for the management of all YMCA Teen Programs, including the overall development, administration, supervision and evaluation of the Leaders Club, Teens Take the City, Teen Center, and any other teen programs run by the Branch.   The Teen Director will focus on maintaining a quality program while raising additional funds to expand it to meet the needs of the community.  The Teen Director will also offer support to the Youth and Sports Director and Youth and Family Director, as needed.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for grant writing to secure program funding (including government contracts, foundation and corporate grants).
  • Ensure all contract requirements are met.
  • Plan and create new and innovative teen programs that meet the needs of the community in keeping with the Branch priority objectives and strategic plan.
  • Work collaboratively with Branch staff to develop new programs.
  • Recruit, select, develop, train and supervise staff.
  • Develop and grow community partnerships.
  • Create and track a resource referral system for youth and families.
  • Represent the Branch at program cabinets (Teen Cabinet, Middle School Leadership Team, etc.).
  • Maintain and continue to improve the quality and success of all programs.
  • Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events.

Skills/Experience: 
  • BA/BS in a related field required; MSW and/or certification to supervise MSW interns preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience supervising community-based youth programs.
  • Supervision, contract management and grant writing experience.
  • Knowledge of the development and administration of youth programs.
  • Experience with case management and youth counseling in a mental health setting.
  • Experience developing prevention programs. 
  • Experience supervising multiple sites or a large center preferred.
  • Bi-lingual language skills in Spanish preferred.
