The Director of Mission Advancement, under the direction and supervision of the VP of Development, and in accordance with the by-laws, mission and established policies of the Association, is responsible for developing, implementing and managing strategies that increase, diversify and sustain social responsibility programs at the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. This position is responsible for the advancement of the mission of the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver by identifying, attracting and securing revenue in support of sustaining social responsibility programs through impact projects, grant writing, and foundation outreach. S/he is responsible for forecasting, researching and writing grant proposals. The incumbent works in close partnership with the Development team as well as Executive Directors, Board of Trustees, members, staff, volunteers, and participants. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

Areas of Responsibility:
Interpersonal Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent must possess a variety of skills to include written and oral communication and the ability to effectively deliver services through a variety of systems.
1. Responsible for collecting, organizing, and maintaining all YMCA program information across youth development, health and wellness, and social responsibility program focus areas to effectively advance the mission.
2. Oversees the administration of grants annually, including the research of funding sources, grant writing, proposals and required reports.
3. Works with VP of Development to identify funds needed, preferred funding targets, approaches, with donor/foundation priorities
4. In collaboration with Association Executive Directors and COO, develops and implement a financial strategy to ensure funds, donations and grants meet the budgetary requirements of all programs.
5. Develop new social responsibility program initiatives with Executive Directors and other strategic partnership opportunities, including their respective roles in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of additional funding.
6. Develop strong relationships with external foundations and corporate giving prospects.
7. Work in close collaboration with Executive Directors to collect data on program progress and ensure accurate information is transmitted in all funder communications in a timely manner.
8. Assist Executive Directors and accounting staff in the development and tracking of all budgets/expenses associated with grant funding, including the development of invoices when necessary.
9. Communicate effectively to all appropriate persons within the organization regarding grant progress and all Foundation-related initiatives and projects.
10. Ensure reports on grant-funded projects are timely and include the appropriate level of detail.
11. Other duties as assigned.
Effect on the End Result:
The effect of this position will be one of overall enhancement of growth and sustainability of social responsibility programs at the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. The overall result of these actions will position the YMCA as a cause driven organization. Their positive experiences will result in new ambassadors for the YMCA.

1. A minimum of a Bachelors Degree with a Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience which entails 5 years of technical grant writing and management.
2. Excellent project and time management skills: highly organized, able to meet strict deadlines and support others to do so, able to manage multiple projects at once.
3. Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.
4. Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
5. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership, prospects, donors, and volunteers in a wide range of roles.
6. Skill in financial planning and fiscal management.
