The North YMCA Family Center provides services to more than 4,700 members with 31,300 square feet of program space. The North Family Center is one of three family centers in the Arlington-Mansfield Area Association and includes: Workout Facilities, Half-Court Gymnasium, Racquetball Courts, Group Exercise Classes, Cardio and Strength Training, Personal Training, Active Older Adult, Silver Sneakers and Silver Fit programs, Youth Sports, Childcare Programs, Kids Zone, CPR/First Aid classes, Enrichment Classes/Camps, Special Friends Program, and Facility Rentals.
The Executive Director, reporting directly to the President/CEO, has primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the North YMCA Family Center. Budget accountability for this family center is $1.5 M with an annual scholarship campaign of $36,500. The North YMCA Family Center is an integral part of the community, providing a wide range of programs and services to a diverse population. The Executive Director will have the skills and experiences necessary to establish a culture of quality and service in an effort to meet and exceed the goals and objectives set forth in the strategic plan. The successful candidate will model the behavioral values established by the Association and will have a passion and enthusiasm for the mission of the Y.
- Directs and administers total family center operations
- Prepares and manages operational budget, recommends adjustments exercising necessary controls to ensure operations are consistent and goals are met with success
- Establishes and maintains appropriate working relationships with staff, volunteers, community leaders and organizations
- Assists in long range vision and plans for the continued success of the family center to include membership retention strategies, program growth and opportunities, and expansion opportunities
- Works collectively with staff to plan and provide a variety of programs to members which maximizes available facilities
- Hires, trains, coaches, supervises and evaluates staff
- Works collectively with Association leadership to organize and conduct annual campaign efforts
- Works with Board of Directors and other volunteer committees
- Develops and maintains contacts in the community with political, business, and civic leaders to educate and inform the YMCA mission
- Bachelor's degree in management/business administration or equivalent experience preferred
- YMCA Multi-team Leader certification preferred
- Two+ years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency
- Fiscal management; staff management and development; and volunteer development
- Ability to direct total family center operations through supervision of staff, development and monitoring of family center budget, marketing and public relations, program development, and volunteer development
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment to achieve results
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven record of successful operation management.
- Ability to think conceptually, analyze and solve problems, and demonstrate assertiveness to manage the scope and diversity of the responsibilities
