Areas of Responsibility: 

This person will play an important part in the work that we do each day. In addition to all other duties as assigned, this role will:

  • Serve as the senior leader responsible for the day-to-day operation and long-term planning of our Scantic Valley Family Center.
  • Represent and promote the YGS within our service area while building collaborative relationships with community agencies, government, and businesses.
  • Direct the financial development activities of the branch.
  • Develop and provide leadership for the branch Advisory Board and other assigned committees.
  • Implement strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of operations. 
  • Ensure the safety, maintenance, and cleanliness of a high quality facility and equipment in conjunction with the Maintenance team.
  • Serve as a member of our management team and supports the overall objectives of the Y Movement.
  • Serve as the senior hiring manager for the branch and is responsible for upholding all hiring, staff development, and HR efforts in conjunction with the VP. HR & Leadership Development.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the branch operating budget to meet or exceed budget targets.
  • Direct branch strategic planning efforts and develop the annual operating plan of the branch.
  • Develop and direct high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies.
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Foster a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
  • Own and complete all assigned HR, administrative, and financial tasks for direct reports and family center.
  • Promote, uphold, and exhibit our core values while supporting the YGS as a unified association. 
Skills/Experience:

Additional years of professional experience or a Rank of E-5 or better may be used in lieu of education requirements where permitted.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Non-Profit Leadership, Business, or other related field plus 5 years of managerial and business operations experience
  • Associates' degree plus 7 years of managerial and business operations experience
  • High School diploma plus 10 years of managerial and business operations experience
At least 5 years of experience working in a non-profit, NGO, or foundation  At least 5 years of experience in programming in a membership based organization At least 5 years of experience in direct staff management At least 2 years of experience in data analytics At least 5 years of budget management experience Must be fully proficient in Excel, Outlook, and Word 2016 and Office 365 Working knowledge of Y values, models, and leadership competencies
