Come grow with us! We are seeking and experienced Aquatics Director to lead and grow our Marion branch Aquatics program at our new facility!

The Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Area YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Director for its Marion, Iowa Branch. The branch is part of an Association that encompasses the Helen G. Nassif location, the Marion branch, the Stoney Point branch, Camp Wapsie, and the Y at Mercy Health Plaza branches. The Aquatics Director is responsible for all aspects of the Aquatics Program as well as activities at the Marion YMCA. These activities include guiding staff and growing our private and group swim lesson programsas well asan opportunity to be part of our team at our newest facility due to open Winter of 2020!

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Administrative duties to include hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of Aquatics staff.
  • Conduct employee performance appraisals.
  • Assure payroll accuracy
  • Promote and incorporate the YMCA four core values and character development model into all programs.
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, providing necessary Program Guide information.
  • Create and schedule aquatics instruction classes/program offerings.
  • Conduct research to increase programs and ensure that they are fulfilling the community's needs.
  • Develop and monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; prepare monthly variance reports and year-end projections, as requested.
  • Assure proper maintenance of the pool.
  • Conduct training for lifeguards and swim instructors in Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR.
  • Perform lifeguard and swim instructor duties as needed.
  • Assume other duties, appropriate for this position, as requested.
Educational Background: 
Either a 4-year college degree in a related field or equivalent job-related work experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Well-developed hiring, training, and supervisory skills.
  • Strong skills in the areas of communication, motivation, creative problem solving, and human relations.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and willingness to further develop computer skills.
  • Enthusiastic and eager to learn new skills necessary to perform the job; and a willingness to improve and expand the program area and service to the community.
  • Enjoy working and interacting with people of all types and ages, modeling and utilizing the important core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative, including both independent and discriminatory judgment.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and to take initiative, including both independent and discriminatory judgment.
  • Ability to deal appropriately with confidential information.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, WSI, and Lifeguard certifications required. Aquatics certification preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $26,000.00 - $32,000.00
