The Western South Dakota Conservation Coordinator will work out of The Nature Conservancy’s Rapid City office to provide project management, research and other general assistance toward the achievement of protection, conservation and stewardship goals. This is a full-time regular position working 40 hours per week during normal business hours. There may be occasional weekend or evening work for special events. The Conservation Coordinator (CC) will assist with and coordinate a variety of diverse conservation projects, partnerships, transactions and events across western SD. The CC may manage conservation data, participate in conservation planning and develop project packages. The CC will respond to staff, partner and landowner inquiries and maintain records and files for a variety of conservation projects. The CC will be responsible for collecting, assembling and analyzing various types of data, in the field or through document surveys, producing maps using GIS software and assisting in the production of reports. The CC will monitor conservation easements and work with easement landowners at a variety of properties across western SD. The CC will also be responsible for scheduling and coordinating logistics for special events and meetings and will be responsible for coordination of volunteers and outreach activities. The CC will handle inquiries about The Nature Conservancy activities in Western SD and will assist in the development of program materials and correspondence. Some work will be done in the field (easement monitoring) however most work will be done in an office setting. We estimate the travel requirements of this position will be 5%- 10%, requiring a valid driver’s license and compliance with the Conservancy’s Auto Safety Program. RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

- May assist with program budget preparation and monitoring.
- The Conservation Coordinator will assist with conservation easement monitoring which may involve work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.
- Prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and makes day to day decisions within the scope of work assignments delegated by the supervisor.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects.

- Experience coordinating project information from a number of sources to populate databases, create reports and produce manual files.
- Experience utilizing databases for data entry and report production preferred.

- Experience planning coordinating and recording results of work-team meetings and activities.
- Experience and basic competencies with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or willingness and ability to learn GIS with in the first 6-9 months on the job.
