The Metro YMCA of the Oranges has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, mission-driven, candidate to join our team.

Under the direction of the District Executive Director, the Branch Executive Director is responsible for the administration and operations of the East Orange YMCA, satellite branch of the South Mountain YMCA, each location of the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges. Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: branch supervision, personnel management, fiscal management, facility management, grant management and reporting, board development, strategic planning, community relations, program development and quality control, fundraising, and local marketing. In addition to the above, the Branch Executive Director may be assigned specific projects on behalf of the Association as needed.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensure effective development and utilization of assigned Branch employees through hiring, motivating, training, establishing performance standards and monitoring performance of department heads.
  • Assist the District Executive Director to direct the operational growth of the Branch through development of quality programs.
  • Ensure the maintenance of facilities and properties of the Branch to assure high standards of maintenance, safety, cleanliness and that the requirements of regulatory codes are fully met.
  • Assist the District Executive Director to organize and conduct the Branch Annual Community Campaign.
  • Assist the District Executive Director to prepare and manage the Branch budget, project trends and create contingencies.
  • Enhance and implement annual Marketing/Public Relations and Relationship Building plans for the Branch that is consistent with the Association plan in collaboration with the Marketing and Community Engagement Director.
  • Develop and implement the Branch annual Strategic Plan that is consistent with the Association goals, objectives and strategies.
  • Review and evaluate the enrollment, program services, and operation of the Branch and then communicate findings to the District Executive Director, Branch Board of Managers and its committees.
  • Work closely with the Childcare Director to ensure compliance, as it relates to the East Orange Public School District, in upholding all contractual requirements of the on-site Preschool Education Program (Abbott Center).
  • Execute the decisions of the Branch Board of Managers.
  • Participate in the work of the Association Administrative Team.
  • Consult and advise in the selection of Branch Board of Managers, committee Chair people and members.
  • Interpret the objectives, activities and programs of the Branch to the community through the spoken word, written media, and particpation in community affairs/events.
  • Conduct special activities and services as assigned by the District Executive Director.
  • Participate in trainings and conferences that will enhance professional growth.
  • Demonstrate and model the YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
  • Exhibit personal and professional behavior in the manner consistent with the best interest of the Association, so as not to bring discredit to the Association.
  • Perform such other job-related duties as may be periodically assigned.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, recreation, or a related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum two years of progressive leadership experience in YMCA (or similar organizational venue) operations.
  • Strong leadership skills including an engaging and energetic demeanor and the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, donors and potential partners.
  • Knowledge of and proven success in fiscal management, fund development, community relations, marketing and public relations and staff supervision and development.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in an urban setting.
  • Proven track record of leading others and sustaining organizational growth.
  • Experience leading and managing change is highly desirable.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and support the mission, vision, standards, policies, procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards and ethics of the YMCA.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certificate is required or obtained within a limited period of time.
  • Must have flexible work schedule.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $86,190.00 - $96,000.00
