Malden YMCA provides services for the cities of Everett, Malden and Medford and is searching for a Transportation Director for our site. The Director oversees and manages our fleet of 6 school buses, 1 van, 1 full-time staff person and 5-10 part-time school bus drivers.

The Transportation Director develops, organizes and implements a high-quality transportation program including planning routes, scheduling buses, manage and track vehicle maintenance systems and develops good customer relationships.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises transportation activities to fulfill YMCA objectives both internal (YMCA programs) and external (other non-profits needing assistance).
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develop schedules and direct personnel as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of Charter information for YMCA programs as well as other non-profits.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with the Everett, Malden and Medford cities.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Ensures all YMCA policies and procedures and state laws are followed concerning transporting passengers.
  • Drive a school bus when necessary.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Work experience with a minimum of three to five years related experience preferred including supervision.
  • Possess appropriate class license, CDL-Class B, S endorsed with SCHOOL BUS CERTIFICATION.
  • Computer literate.
  • Knowledge of rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for
  • Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the Community.

Required Certifications

  • Appropriate drivers license
  • CDL-Class B, S endorsed with SCHOOL BUS CERTIFICATION.
