We are looking for a dynamic individual to join the busy aquatics departmeny of our family branch!

The Aquatics Coordinator shall manage the coordination and delivery of pool programming, including swim lessons, family swims and special events andthe complete management of the pool deck. Be involved in 15-20 hours of program each week.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensure that instructors and guards are on time and following safety procedures and YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Promote membership enrollment and fosters leadership development by encouraging members to become involved in committees and other volunteer roles.
  • Maintain facility and equipment appearance in a neat, clean and organized manner. Report concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that each child is evaluated and placed in the appropriate level for swim lessons. Assist with registration procedures including evaluation, registration, waitlist, and rosters as needed.
  • Ensure that each child is swim tested before being allowed to swim. Work with camp staff to maintain records of when children were given a deep water test. Maintain deep water testing log and swim test log.
  • Develop and ensure that high-quality programs are being taught following the YMCA Swim Lessons Program.
  • Demonstrate support for YMCA special events by participating and aiding in the delivery of those events as directed by supervisor.
  • Coordinate the delivery of maintenance systems with guidance of Aquatic Director and maintenance staff. Maintain pool maintenance logs.
  • Create weekly schedule and update with sub shifts, changes and special events. Put out schedules on bulletin board in office and in pool-side binder
  • Assist with finding appropriate coverage for classes and lifeguarding
  • Manage Private Lessons by contacting families, providing information, pairing applicants with instructor in timely manner
  • Assist in Red Ball Drill and record results
  • Ensure deck and appropriate spaces have updated notices and pool schedules
  • Coach, mentor, schedule and train all staff to develop and utilize skills and to be an effective team of instructors and lifeguards
  • Retain Positive and supportive relationships within the facility as well as throughout the association
  • Teach/ lifeguard 15-20 hours weekly including subbing when necessary
  • Participate in the Annual Campaign
  • Attend Aquatics Task Force meetings and other required meetings as deemed by supervisor
  • All other duties assigned by the Senior Program Director
Skills/Experience: 
  • The Aquatics Coordinator must bring to this position past experience in lifeguarding and swim instruction. This position requires previous experience in group work, directing and training staff and volunteers. The person in this position must have the knowledge required for the maintenance of the facilities, equipment, program, staff and schedules of the program area.
  • The successful candidate must possess a number of technical skills related to lifeguard training and safety,must be currently certified in CPR, First Aid, O2 and AED.
  • He/she must have the ability to establish a supportive relationship with staff, volunteers, members and program members. 
  • The Aquatics Coordinator must be able to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Sound judgment in appropriately delegating responsibilities to staff and volunteers is important. Being able to work as part of a team in order to accomplish the Association’s long and short-range goals is essential.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly: $16.50 - $18.25
