The Middlesex YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic Healthy Living Coordinator...will it be you?
The Healthy Living Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the land & water group exercise program as well as member engagement programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Build positive relationships with members and act as a health educator
- Responsible for hiring, training and supervision of the land & water group exercise staff
- Manage Land & Water Group Exercise program, teach a minimum of 4 classes per week and substitute when needed.
- Work with the VP of Operations as well as the Personal Training Coordinator to develop and implement new member engagement programs designed to increase retention and attract new members while working with the Membership Department & Communications Coordinator to market those programs
- Work closely with the Health & Fitness Maintenance Coordinator to supervise equipment, do regular inventories and purchase new equipment and ensure timely maintenance of equipment
- Proactively communicate with staff and members. Respond in a timely manner to all member inquiries, comments and/or complaints.
- Participate in Leadership/Management Team meetings and activities.
- Actively participate in the annual campaign & other fund and friend-raising events as directed by the CEO.
- Participate in meetings and activities of the Board of Managers and/or committees as directed, including participation in fundraising campaigns.
- Positively represent the YMCA and maintain relationships with professional and community organizations/agencies.
- Participate in workshops, conferences, etc. that will enhance personal and professional growth.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Exercise Science, Health Education or Public Health highly desirable
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years working in the health & fitness field
- Minimum of 1 year teaching group exercise classes
- Minimum of 1 years supervisory experience

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES/KNOW HOW:
- Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and supervisory skills
- Understand the relationship of the general public to the association, of staff to volunteer, and of staff to staff, and be able to effectively enhance and cultivate those relationships.
- Ability to interpret, carry out & implement into classes/programs, the mission and goals of the YMCA.
- Ability to supervise staff & volunteers while actively handling a variety of functions at the same time.
- Work as an integral member of a staff team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with adults, youth, teens, seniors and special populations.
- Computer literate.

REQUIRED TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Current Group Exercise Training certification
- Must maintain CPR/AED certifications
- LIVESTRONG at the YMCA and Water Exercise Instructor certification is highly desirable
Compensation/Benefits:
Hourly: $17.00 - $19.00
