Pt. Bonita YMCA offers wellness in nature through outdoor education, conference & retreat facilities & camps.
Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the Director of Group Services is responsible for the successful operation, planning, and administration of YMCA Point Bonita’s group services departments. Group Services includes the conference & retreat program, food services and the café operations.
The Director of Group Services must achieve excellence with regards to superior customer satisfaction, staff development and quality execution while meeting all fiscal goals. They regularly evaluate programs and participant satisfaction and implement program changes in response to feedback, attracting new customers and guests while also working to exceed fiscal and enrollment benchmarks. They are responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, development and evaluation of conference, café and food services staff members. The regular schedule is determined by program needs. The Director Group Services may be required to provide coverage for any program including some nights and weekends and is expected to work a variety of shifts in order to observe all aspects of program operations.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, coach and evaluate all food service, conference and cafe staff
- Create, implement and monitor department budgets, completing variance reports and implementing contingency plans as required
- Ensure that all guest services are delivered as contracted 100% of the time
- Identify/Remove barriers to inclusion wherever possible, ensuring program activities are welcoming and accessible
- Collaborate with the food services team to ensure nutritious and attractive menus for guests, incorporating special dietary restrictions and needs
- Steward and develop relationships with new and existing programmatic partners
- Ensure all training and certifications up to date for all assigned staff and volunteers
- Ensure kitchen is maintained in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition according to Public Health Code and the directives of the branch leadership
- Ensure compliance with all department, branch and association safety policies and procedures for assigned staff and programs, including first aid response and child safety
- Conduct program evaluations and oversee program changes in response to community needs and interests
- Coordinate the outreach and stewardship strategies required to meet or exceed enrollment benchmarks for conference & retreat and café programs
- Coordinate and execute special events for the branch
- Attend all meetings and trainings as required.
- Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.
- Demonstrate the Character Counts values of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility in all dealings with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.
- Demonstrate competencies in and willingness to develop in the Cause Driven Leadership areas of mission advancement, collaboration, operational effectiveness and personal growth.
- Assume leadership role in Annual Campaign.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Minimum of 21 years of age.
- At least two years of experience in hospitality or guest service management required, including supervisory responsibilities, purchasing, and fiscal management.
- Experience with program development and/or special event planning required.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Excel and Word.
PREFERRED
- Current food manager certification (i.e. ServSafe or other accredited food safety program)
- Monitoring of program data and report writing experience
- Bilingual Spanish language skills
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certificates (required within 30 days of hire)
Salary: $67,000.00 - $72,000.00
